A few years ago, Tioga Pass in the Sierra opened in mid-winter for the first time in decades because of little snow. I drove in and headed out on a what I thought would be a few mile hike, but in the first few minutes I found an expanse of ice on a river bank that engrossed me for several hours. This is one image from that time. I’ve never seen such ice formations since. From Yosemite National Park, California.
